January 3, 2008 she was rushed by ambulance to Hamilton's McMaster for an emergency surgery to remove a tumour from her brain stem, and to insert a shunt to reduce the pressure from her brain. This is one of the first times she began to walk after her surgery.

Sep 26, 2008 - thanks for sharing the videos on your daughter. my younger sister had a brain stem tumour also, it was removed successfully. however a few months later another one grew and it unfortunately killed her. seeing how well your daughter has progressed. it is heart warming. all the best :)

Sep 26, 2008 - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. : ((( Was your sister's tumour malignant? It was almost as difficult for us because the medical practices were so below standard. She almost died as a result of their incompetence. They just didn't care to help us.

Oct 3, 2008 - they dont know what the secondary tumour was. they couldnt biopsy it. it was fibrous instead of a solid mas and wrapped itself round the stem. the radiotherapy aggrivated the tumour instead of shrinking it, and this is what caused her death. wasnt very nice to see her be affected by the radiation like this. she started losing the movements and communication she had re-developed. i wish vicky all the luck in the world, she is a very special girl

Jan 9, 2009 - That might have been what they first thought Vicki had. It was either the least worrysome (benign) or the most agressive form of a tumour (malignant) Upon surgery, which healed her by draining the fluid alone, they determined her tumour to be non-cancerous. Shocking enough, it still could have been fatal. Vicki still has some issues with walking, but she's independent now.
