Jul 19, 2008 - I get the drift that you are a mediocre pianist yourself, if not worse.

Jul 27, 2008 - yeah, it kind of makes me feel worthless as a musician

Aug 21, 2008 - Well played. Just a pity that some woman had to make a silly remark.
miamipianofestival Says:
Aug 22, 2008 - the comments were included to show this was an informal setting. Also we thought the comment that he knew the difference between a mazurka and waltz was very accurate and perceptive. The differences are subtle and profound-Aristo knew that instinctively

Sep 8, 2008 - Very good talent. I feel that the waltz was played a bit too quickly, resulting in some missed notes in the left hand. I think we all agree that the woman's comment is quite silly. lol

Dec 2, 2008 - stupid comment after playing. pianist is just marvelous. next lang lang...
miamipianofestival Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - Thank you for your comment on Aristo Sham. He is now 12 and will be performing in Miami next May. the "stupid comment" was made by our Artisitic Director who travelled to China to audition young pianists for our prodigy program. This was a very informal setting-the comment was rather perceptive so I included it. Very few pianists instinctively feel the rhythmic difference between waltz and mazurka, both in 3/4 time. I do find your choice of language rather rude and insulting for no purpose.

Dec 25, 2008 - The first piece was good and then at the second piece I almost fell over!!!! So fast.... I'm way older than him and I can only go slow.... Wow, He's good! :)

Jan 7, 2009 - Of all child prodigees I have seen on Youtube so far, he's the best. But I have one question, why do teachers let gifted children always play on abject pianos, that are hard, worn out and placed in rooms without a valid acoustic? This is to protect them from being questioned in their quality as teachers, for one thing is sure, let this play in Carnegie Hall, and you can let all those old pharisaics go home. In addition, his teacher should have told him to put up his chair slightly higher ...
ipublica Says:
Jan 7, 2009 - What a stupid comment of the teacher or interviewer, that's how children are treated, in 'polite language', in this culture, pleasingly, instead of telling them the truth about their uniqueness and helping them to be best in what they do. What a saddening movie after all! It shows with all clarity where we are in our glorious hero culture ...

Jul 19, 2008 - why do you approach music in terms of which pianist is better than another? obviously this child is quite gifted for his age and plays with an understanding of the music. you should just appreciate the wide variety of talent in our world.
