Aug 4, 2008 - I've been in one like this at the Treemont Hotel, Chicago. Sounded like someone was shaking maracas. Weirdest elevator noise I've ever heard. Door liked to bag against the wall too.

Oct 15, 2008 - Note: Just because it is noisey does not mean at all that it is death trap. This thing is NOT death trap!!!!!!!!

Dec 10, 2008 - Wow, that is a classic, it's one with the rotary floor selector (like this one: watch?v=MYuyv4-QR0g but this lift has less floors) I think these classic lifts are great. I would have pushed the Emerg.stop button to see what happens! (see my latest video!)

Dec 11, 2008 - Wow, that rotary floor selector is impressive! Now you're making me want to use my lock picking skills to get into the elevator room in my building to see what's in there. The button panels in the elevators here look identical to the one in this vid (except it has 17 floors). Building I think was built in the '70s. Modern lift controls are rather boring compared to these fairly intricate mechanical/relay systems.
