* If You Don't Know Me By Now/Love Don't Love Nobody/End of Our Road Medley * This is ZebFAN06 on a new account, going to try to re-upload my stuff on here and some new stuff, so please be sure to subscribe back to my account. This is one of my all time favorite Gladys Knight performances! I get chills throughout the entire performance. Gladys Knight is truly the Empress of Soul! If You Don't Love Me By Now was written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. It was originally recorded by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. It has been covered by the rock band, Simply Red. It was comically covered by British comedian Ricky Gervais in his character David Brent. A music video was produced and released with BBC's The Office DVD set. American Idol contestant LaToya London additionally covered the song in the season compilation album American Idol Season 3: Greatest Soul Classics. Love Don't Love Nobody was recorded by the Spinners. "End of the Road" is a 1992 number-one hit recorded by Boyz II Men for the Motown label. Written and produced by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, it is Boyz II Men's most successful single and replaced The Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" as the most successful single ever released on Motown. It was the last Motown single to reach #1 on the UK singles chart. Originally recorded as a soundtrack song for the Eddie Murphy picture Boomerang, the song (themed about a breakup where the man really doesn't want the woman to go) topped the charts from August 15 through November 7, 1992, setting a record for most weeks at number one with thirteen, besting Elvis Presley's eleven-week hold with "Hound Dog" / "Don't Be Cruel". However, two weeks after "End of the Road" left the top spot, being displaced by The Heights' "How Do You Talk to an Angel", Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" reached number one, and would stay there for fourteen weeks, one week longer than "End of the Road" had lasted. Their next single ("I'll Make Love to You"), however, would tie Houston's record. The End of the Road has also been covered by the backstreet boys. I had to cut out a minute of the interlude speech by Gladys Knight. Gladys Knight speaks highly of the four tops, Stevie Wonder, and other great soul legends. The pictures of Gladys Knight are from the 2008 Divas with Heart Concert in New York City. Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, and Diana Ross also appeared in the concert.

Gladys Knight sounds wonderful on this one and the soul she brings forth in between the lyrics and her own adlibbing is so powerful and really brings to your mind wonderful and loving memories.a I'm glad I was able to share this with you, I could send it to you as an mp3 if you'd like.

diemooisteblom Says:

Jun 15, 2008 - Thanks for your response. Yes, please do send it! I love this series of songs and I love her sharing her mememories as well as involving the crowd. Oh, the good old days!

Jun 28, 2008 - Lord Have Mercy - this performance is not just about showmanship - it's about passion. She's a master - no doubt about it. Somebody please tell me what is this from - I need this in my car!!!

fairmontguy Says:

Jun 29, 2008 - I Wish Gladys would shut the hell up and just sing. She talks too damn much.

PiercedPA Says:

Jun 29, 2008 - Is this version recorded so I can get a copy?

diemooisteblom Says:

Jul 1, 2008 - Then why are you listening to this then. I think that the talking makes the music even much better. She is connecting with the crowd, don't you understand that. She is honest in her music and what she says here. So please, leave the catty remarks for kids and grow up!

divatimes2 Says:

Jul 1, 2008 - Don't worry about that talking part - see, that part's for the young people and the grownups that appreciate she's talking about life. Maybe someday you'll get what she's saying in those words, maybe not - but for now, just ignore that part, ok? 'Cause I think God gave Gladys that voice to sing AND to talk - to put something positive out there in the world that inspires people to do the same. How can you knock somebody for that? Come on!

ZebFAN08 Says:

Jul 1, 2008 - i cut my finger so i can use my index finger, or else id ty[pe a lot about how dumb you are fairmontguy

SednaWorld Says:

Jul 2, 2008 - One of the greatest medleys ever! Wonderful message too...

PiercedPA Says:

Jul 2, 2008 - I have seen Gladys in concert many times. Amazing! They just dont come like her anymore!!

diemooisteblom Says:

Jul 3, 2008 - I cannot get enough of this medley. I just love it! Young artists need to listen to these legendary artists and emulate them, not to be better than them, but to continue their work. Long live the legends. I love this!I really do!Even though I am in my twenties, I appreciate this music, because my father played it when I was young. It takes me back to those days! All the crap that is on the radio now, with people that sing good on record, but cannot duplicate that performance live, a rip off!

fairmontguy Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - It 's not just the talking, it's the way she talks. It is unpolished and rather ni**erish. She talks too fast and too much. It's ok to be a little country, but damn. She is an established artist, sit down, take your time. But like it or not, that's my opinion and I have a right to express it without apology.

Arron413 Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - I totally disagree with all that you wrote above. Gladys hits this wonderful medley out of the ball park, and the discussion is wonderfully incorporated into the medley. You need to rescind the statement you earlier made!

fairmontguy Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I won't rescind it. It's how I feel. Rather you agree or not does not change my opinion. Gladys has a wonderful soulful voice and I love it, but "FOR ME" she talks too damn much. I want a song , not a speech

Radjikoemarie Says:

Jul 9, 2008 - Ni**erish?? Are you nuts?? I understand that you want a song rather then a speach, but you are just being rude!!

Mamimarlene Says:

Jul 15, 2008 - You can buy the cd called "just for you" brought in 1995. It is the last song on the cd playing almost 12 beautiful minutes!

Mamimarlene Says:

Jul 15, 2008 - Buy the cd called "Just for you" (it's an oldy from the year 1995). You will be in heaven with the End of the road medley that lasts almost 12 minutes.

Mamimarlene Says:

Jul 15, 2008 - It's on a cd called Just for you brought out in 1995. Good luck buying the cd.

docrt925 Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - the issue is not your opinion that she "talks too damn much"...it's that your problem with her speaking style is expressed in such a crude and ignorant manner, calling her "unpolished and rather ni**erish." Perhaps you should examine your own manner of expressing yourself.

fairmontguy Says:

Jul 24, 2008 - I am sorry you guys can not accept my opiion and that have to get hate mail because I like to hear Gladys sing not talk. I love great story tellers but gladys way of doing it just does not suit me. I am not trying to take away from what you guys get from her. Her rendition of Love Don't Love Nobody is wonderful but.. Just as Gladys can express herself the way she feels is best, I am allowed the same.

belcanto Says:

Jul 25, 2008 - I know! Got the nerve to call Gladys unpolished after telling her to "shut the hell up" because she talks "too damn much". Can you say hypocrite?

docrt925 Says:

Jul 25, 2008 - ummm fairmontguy, I'm guessing you're not getting hatemail because of your opinion that Gladys should sing and not talk...but because of your crude and ignorant word choices in your initial comment.

stymeid Says:

Jul 25, 2008 - why critize someone who you want to hear. she is not your slave.sing but not be heard. go jump..
